An art that integrates the man to the universe — sculptor, painter, and philosopher of form
Explore the Works →"Art is what sensitizes us. Creation is the pleasure of living."
Melinda Garcia is one of the most versatile Brazilian artists of our time — sculptor, painter, designer, writer. Born in Rio de Janeiro, of Portuguese heritage, she entered the world of art at the age of seven at the School of Fine Arts, and has not stopped creating since.
Her works address behavioral and elemental themes at the intersection of scientific and psychic perception, using a transdisciplinary approach that weaves together modern physics, depth psychology, and spiritual philosophy.
Works are held in landmark public spaces, prestigious private collections — including those of Roberto Marinho and Elie Douer — and the Museum of Brazilian Art in São Paulo. She was awarded the Prize for Sculpture at the XI Florence Biennale of Contemporary Art in 2017.
Commissioned by the City of São Paulo, the 5-meter bronze monument to Ayrton Senna — Brazil's greatest national hero — stands in the Ibirapuera Park, one of Latin America's most visited public spaces.
The work captures not merely the driver, but the transcendent force of a spirit at one with speed and destiny. It is Melinda Garcia's definitive statement on the relationship between human aspiration and universal energy.
Also held in the permanent collection of the Museum of Brazilian Art, Alvarez Penteado Foundation, São Paulo.
Melinda Garcia's art emerges from an extraordinary transdisciplinary engagement — one that draws quantum physics, depth psychology, and mystical philosophy into a single creative vision.
Her work occupies the rare territory where art becomes science, and science becomes art — where David Bohm's implicate order meets Jung's collective unconscious and Krishnamurti's radical perception.
What characterizes the artist is the ability to extract from social reality something latent within it, not foreseen or, in any case, not seen by others — and through action, make that reality and its knowledge accessible. In this sense, the work of Melinda Garcia seems a perfect exemplar of the "soul of the future."
Melinda Garcia accepts commissions for public sculpture, private collectors, corporate spaces, and architectural projects. Works are available for acquisition through the artist's studio at Cassino Atlântico, Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro.
